Cup game postponed

United's Carling Cup semi-final first leg against Manchester City has been postponed.

The Reds were due at Eastlands on Wednesday night, but heavy snow in the north west means the game has been rearranged to Tuesday 19 January. The second leg, originally scheduled for Tuesday 19 January at Old Trafford, will now take place on Wednesday 27 January.

A statement on City's official website said: "After discussions with the relevant parties including Greater Manchester Police, the Safety Advisory Committee, the Football League and Manchester United, the decision was unanimously reached that the game should be re-scheduled due to safety concerns, particularly with regard to travel for supporters. "The North West Ambulance Service has declared the region as a major incident area and Greater Manchester Police are now responding to emergency calls only. The Met Office was also consulted and with projected temperatures of minus four tonight, due to drop to minus six on Wednesday evening, all parties agreed a postponement was the only solution."

As a result of the rearranged Carling Cup games, United's Barclays Premier League home game against Hull City (scheduled for 26 January) has been postponed. A new date for this fixture has yet to be decided.

Man Utd v Wolves

United bounced back to winning ways with a routine victory over a depleted Wolves side, thanks to first-half goals from Wayne Rooney and Nemanja Vidic and a stunning second half strike from Antonio Valencia.

The Reds were scarcely troubled by a visiting side featuring 10 changes to that which overcame Tottenham last weekend, and the game was buried after Rooney's penalty and a powerful Vidic header on the stroke of half-time. When Valencia capped a stunning move with a blistering finish on 65 minutes, it was merely a matter of reducing Chelsea's goal-difference advantage.

Manchester United vs Everton

Unrelenting pressure from United in the opening spell culminated with a fantastic 36th minute goal for Darren Fletcher. The ball moved down Uniteds wing and Evra sent a great ball right across the Toffees penalty area, which Valencia headed back to Fletcher standing on the edge of the box and his first time strike was superb, curling in to the top corner of the net.

Into the second half and after Rooney and Owen had just missed goal attempts, Michael Carrick scored in the 66th minute from a Giggs cross. This clearly deflated Everton and in the 76th minute Valencia scored after Paul Scholes had strolled thru the middle of the park and flicked it out to the winger, whose shot was deflected in. The whistle goes and Manchester United comfortably win. The durable Evra was the commentators man of match, but for me Rooneys positional play and ball delivery was just superb.

Meeting wrap

A good attendance at the meeting, with much lively chat about the All Whites qualifying for South Africa and the current goalkeeper status at United.

Briefly, funds are good, membership is good and the season ticket is booked till end of January.

We got a great deal from Lotto, on the shirts and socks and these will be available as soon as the cheque gets there. So hopefully we will get some shirts in time for the Xmas party.

The Xmas party is still down for December 6th, final confirmation is still being sort, due to management changes at their end.

There will be a kick about and the Sunday football team prizegiving.

See you all there.
