Rotorua to Birmingham

While the hospitality of the Rotorua hosts Andrew and Jo was 1st class, the team didn't perform so wonderfully. The day was a cracker and the opposition was hot, with only two wonderful goals from young Wesley and another strong showing from Reg's boys to appease the gods. Also young Steve Mellor put in a fine performance in goal.

Wesley has now climbed to second in the all time goalscoring ranks with 17 beautiful goals, 2 ahead of our Gareth and only 10 behind all time champion Pete.
WELL DONE !

On the other hand, Manchester United dealt to Birmingham with a 3-0 whipping and have done no favours to ex United man Steve Bruce's chances to keep his team in the top flight. Rooney is really starting to show the genius that he has, with two fine efforts and hopefully there will be many splendid goals to come.

Full wrap-ups of both games in the next mag.

Man Utd NZ at the dale

On a beautiful West Auckland day at Riversdale road reserve in Avondale, the mighty Red Army took on the Eastern Suburbs whites (Adrian and Gregor included) and what a match it was.

Right from the start our Macca and Chris G took over vocal control and never has the defence been so tight since the days of Cardiff and Deano. With Jim back in goal and a rampant Steve Taylor on attack it was end to end stuff. Remember Eastern Subs is a Saturday team and even though they were warming up for the season ahead, they still had heaps of talent and SPEED on the pitch, but the Red Army matched them in every department. Down a goal midway thru the 1st half the Red machine just kept on attacking and scored a deserving equaliser in the last 10 minutes. Absolutely fantastic game with brilliant performances from Macca and Steve T, but also as a team performance it was right up there.

Rotorua game, March 25th.

Hi all, the trip to Rotorua is all on, so let Ken know if you are interested, re bookings. Need to know, as soon as, if you intend to stay, the game is on Saturday afternoon and most will travelling down Sat morning and staying Saturday night.

Great game against Newcastle last week, with all the team performing well and the outcome could easily have been 5-0 instead of just a couple.

Sunday in the Park and Wigan for dessert.

Another beautiful day at Onepoto Domain for the Manchester United Supporters Club of New Zealand, with a fantastic kick-about and a ripping BBQ.
Thanks to everyone who came along and we hope you all had a cracking day. The football kick-about was great, with Woody's boys displaying their talent and I am sure they will be representing the club in the Sunday matches soon. Katie put up a courageous effort in goal and some of the players put on some excellent passing movements, boding well for the up coming practice matches. Great to see big Bob out and about and all the ladies, gents in support, we hope to get a few more supporters along to the games.

Then Galloping Gourmet Lance really pulled out all the stops with an EXCELLENT BBQ, brilliant steaks, sausages, patties, bread and HP sauce and as Lance created his masterpiece we relaxed with a few beers and some decent chat. A great afternoon that led into a cracking night-morning with United destroying Wigan, to bring home the 2nd piece of silverware for the season.
