Well, what should have been a routine three points turned into an early morning of frustration today against Reading.
Fergie freshened the team up a bit with 5 changes from the Arsenal game including the much anticipated return of Gabriel Heinze at left back. He may have been out for over a year but it wasn't long before he was launching into a few of his trademark strong tackles. Some of the passing and movement in the first half was exceptional but we went in at half time with nothing to show for it and the game score less.
That all changed however, in the 2nd minute of the second half, when Reading were awarded a dubious penalty after a hand ball by Gary Neville. Young Irishman Kevin Doyle scored from the spot despite a great effort by Van der Sar to keep it out.
10 minutes later Fergie brought on Saha to give us a bit more firepower after what seemed to me like a baffling decision to leave him out in the first place.
The equaliser finally came from a great piece of Ronaldo magic in the 73rd minute.
It was one way traffic after that towards the Reading goal but the winner just wouldn't come, leaving us to contemplate another frustrating game and all the good work at the start of the season slowly being undone with only one point from the last two games.
