Massacre at Huapai

The body count was high and it was all red, as the Man Utd NZ team couldn't stop the blues of Norwest first half onslaught.
The second period was far better with Mike Tull increasing his lead in this years goalscoring stakes with another pinpoint finish. The defence tightened up allowing only two more goals, so the fairytale mid-season run is definitely over and we are going to have to buckle down if we want to finish the last part in good heart.

Man Utd NZ vs Onehunga

Another good game at Waikaraka Park this afternoon.

The team lined up thus, Jan in goal, Marc, quiet dependable Phil, Rob and James in defence, KJ, Steve T, Tavis and an Onehunga lad in the middle, with Mike and another ex blue up front.

Tavis opened the scoring in the first two minutes and then Mike scored a brilliant strikers goal, just 4 minutes later, then an ounce of luck saved the blues, when even though we had the ball in the net for the third, a number of their players spat the dummy until their ref called it offside. No matter as we were on fire and continued to pass the ball well.

Jan was solid in goal for the second week in a row and Tavis, Steve and KJ excellent in the midfield and the two players we borrowed also played well. Phil was awesome once more in defence and worked well with Rob in the middle of the d. We must have put at least 10-12 shots just wide, most within a few feet, some just inches.

Thanks for all the support from Carrie, Anamaya, Steve Mellor, Amy and d crazy staffy.

Speaking of scoring

Wayne

Nice to see the lad avoided the gold-diggers and married a true friend.

Sweet sweet 400

The Manchester United NZ Supporters Club Sunday football team scored their 400th goal in their 4-1 demolition of a Korean team this afternoon.

And I would just like to say the 400th was an absolute cracker by young Tavis.

report of game to come ...

Man Utd NZ on the telly

Manchester United NZ

And just to correct the record, we actually beat them twice in a row, 1-0 at Takapuna in 2001, just weeks before our 7-0 thrashing of Ranui in the West Ak Cup Final and then 5-0 at Mt Smart in a curtain-raiser to a Kingz game in early 2002. It was also on the television and in front of a reasonable crowd.
