The Euro Cup final
Manchester United were completely outclassed by Barcelona in the European Cup final.
Maybe the line-up wasn't the best, but the superior ball play from Barca was just too much. An odd thing was having a new type of ball being introduced in a CUP FINAL.
But the better team won on the day and they also scored an historic treble, but with a League Cup, World Club Championship and a Premier League championship, it was a great season for us as well.

Just Another Trophy, I think not!!
Much has been written and yet to be written about our 18th championship, whether it's called Division 1 or The Premiership we are now level with another team from the 80's. To put this into perspective I've copied an article that was written by an ex-pat Red who now lives in Oz. For me it sums up the significance of this particular win and although it seems a long time ago now the phrase comes to mind that "time fly's when you're having fun".
To understand the significance of what this weekend could mean not just to Manchester United but also Liverpool it is necessary to go back to 1994 and a freezing January night on Merseyside. Alex Ferguson's team were playing at Anfield for the first time since ending their 26-year wait for the league title and the Kop was ready for them. "Come back and sing 'Ooh Aah Cantona' when you've won 18," read the banner It'll be a pleasure!

The European Champions League Final Thursday 28 May
The MUFC NZ Supporters Club will be watching the game at Speakers Corner Browns Bay. Kick off is at 06.45 am but try to be a little earlier as we are expecting a full house as usual. John will be putting on a Full English breakfast, reasonably priced, so it's all good.
Get there if you can and make a day of it, or at least a morning.

United v City
Manchester United swept City away this morning with a sparkling first half effort.
Goals from Ronaldo and Carlos gave United a two goal half-time lead, which they easily held thru till the final whistle.
Wonderful display.

Man Utd NZ v Norwest
The Manchester United NZSC team fought the blues of Norwest at Huapai on Sunday afternoon.
The first half showed the positive feeling gained from an undefeated start to the season. We had a new keeper in goal with a mixture of injured, tired and sick players and only eleven of them ! But our guys always step up and when Warren scored a great equaliser the whole team picked up, there were two more big breaks with out success and finally a brilliant free-kick from Warren saw us go in to half-time at two-one up.
Then it all turned to custard … four blue goals in ten minutes and couple at the end destroyed the early game confidence.
We do have the goods to beat all these teams, but we definitely need a reliable squad.
