MUFCNZSC v ECB

Manchester United NZ played the East Coast Bays old boys on Sunday afternoon.

Having blown off the cobwebs since we last played them and with us one player short it was a fast and frantic opening ten minutes, when incredibly we had the best opportunity to score, with a perfect thru ball to Wes, who just pushed it wide when one on one with the keeper.

They passed the ball around like they always do and with the extra man, we were hard pressed to keep up, but we keep trying and Wes had another chance before they exploded down field and scored a cracking goal. The heads dropped a little as we saw all that hard work disappearing and like lightening they had scored another goal. The half time whistle went and though a bit deflated, we felt we had played well.

The second half kicked off and instantly the Red Machine was back on attack and sure enough it wasn’t long before a chance appeared. After some excellent play down the pitch, Wes got a clear shot and hit a pearler in to the back of the Bays net. The score was 1-2 and we were pumped, but then a shocking clearance led to an easy East Coast Bays goal. This seemed to stump us a bit and we played some great football but just lacked those final passes and in the end they overwhelmed us with three fantastic goals.

A good game played in great spirit, as always with the ECB team and we retired to the bar beaten, but not defeated.

19 Gaining Momentum

In a bid to celebrate our 19th title, which is just around the corner, United fans are trying to get Paul Hardcastle’s number 19 to number on in the charts. Get it off iTunes for 79p. It is now currently 18 in the chart.

Hardcastle has confirmed that the proceeds of this will be going to charity. He has set the wheels in motion with record label EMI to get the money off to children who have lost their dad in battle fighting for this country.

Spread the word and make sure they buy the “19″ from his “Best of” album.

Listen to Paul Hardcastle’s interview with talkSPORT from this afternoon.

Sunday football

Manchester United NZSC failed to capitalise on their numerous chances and went down to a Bradley inspired Takapuna Old Farts, young Brad is Grumpys son and actually played for us, a few years ago (prob 14-15). Talented kid for sure ...

Score was 1-3 and was as always with the Old Farts, a most enjoyable match.

Cheers to the guys and

Best Wishes to Alby as he fights the big c ... Legend mate !
