Scholes, ya little beauty

Paul Scholes scored the only goal in this mornings Champions League match against Barcelona. He gathered the ball about thirty five yards out and sent a piledriver home, earning himself a European Cup Final place after missing the '99 final.

A fast paced game that was all on for at least eighty minutes with the outcome always in the balance the whole time. Tevez was outstanding in attack and equally good dropping back and hassling the Barca forwards.

It was a great all round performance from the United players and the crowd was fantastic too.

GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED !!!

Manchester United vs Barcelona

ALL one way traffic and it was coloured red & blue, as Barcelona completely dominated the game at Nou Camp. Ronaldo missed an early penalty, but United looked lacklustre from the start. The nil all draw, a rather weird result for Barca and a thorn for us in the return match at Old Trafford.

the weekend

Carlos Tevez once again rescued Manchester United with a late goal to grab a draw off Blackburn.
Fergies reaction

It was no surprise to me that the Rovers would play so well and just emphasised the difficult road home for us, who can forget West Ham over the last 5 years giving it to us and with Wigan also, every game is gonna be tough. We must get a draw at Chelski, to stop any chance of the blues getting up.

Good to see Waitakere finally win a game with our Mike Hester as referee, he is definitely not on their Christmas card list, lol.

Oh well, back to the shed !

One step closer

More than 75,000 people packed into Old Trafford to watch a classic Manchester United - Arsenal football game. The atmosphere was electric and the teams responded with end to end football. Arsenal opened the scoring early in the second half, but Ronaldo equalised with a penalty minutes later, then Owen Hargreaves wrapped up the game with a beautifully taken free kick.

Man Utd NZ vs East Coast Bays

Another hard day at the office on the Shore, with the oldies kicking our butts on the lower field at the ECB Stadium. Thankfully playing on the lower pitch stopped the large girls crowd seeing our poor performance.

The old reps played football, while we chased and got caught out all the way thru the game. Colchester Steve had his usual good game and won the bar tab and Mike had a good game in goal, but overall it was a disappointing performance, especially after our great lead-up form to the season.

But thats football and they (Takapuna & ECB) are the best teams in the Sunday league, so lets crack on and show them how good we are in the return games !

Down by the river

A slight hiccup on Uniteds way to the Premiership, as Middlesbrough got a well deserved draw at the Riverside Stadium. Played in lovely British weather, ( don't it make you glad you are out here ), both teams played great football and it was Ronaldo who opened Uniteds account (chasing Denis Laws goalscoring record) with a well taken goal. Then it was all Middlesbrough as their new Brazilian took it to us with two great goals. But once again Rooney rose to the occasion and grabbed the equaliser, then a series of near misses, with Rooney heading a cross from Hargreaves, which the keeper just saved, leading to a goal-mouth scramble, then with ten seconds to go in injury time, the 'boro had their chance to win it, but Van de Man saved the day.

and a good day for our Cardiff, with the Bluebirds getting thru to the FA Cup Final.

Man Utd NZ vs Takapuna

A hard fought match at Takapuna today, with Takapuna going in with a 1-0 half time lead, but after that the Red Machine picked it up, with goals to Rob and Barney.

Rob won the ball just over the halfway line, ran forward, played a lovely one-two with Rowan and held off a defender, clipped heels, then fired the ball past the keeper.

And then the second, Sean weaved his way across the edge of the box and then Barney ran in and got the ball off his toe, hitting it with ferocious power past the shell shocked keeper, who didn't see it till the ball was in the net.

A good game, but we couldn't keep out their hot young striker from last year and we ended up going down by 2-4.

United in Rome

Manchester United defeated Roma in this mornings Champions League match.

In the 39th minute Rooney makes a break on the left, he passes to Scholes on the right, who crosses in to the penalty area and Ronaldo flies thru the air and heads the ball in the net.

On the hour Van d man makes a brilliant save to stop the Italians drawing level.

Five minutes later, United breaks down the right and the ball is crossed to the far side of the area, where Park heads it in to the six yard box and Rooney puts it away.

With a minute to go and in the clear Ronaldo misses a volley !!!
