Family day at Devonport

The day was beautifully clear and the early morning air was crisp, as the Manchester United NZ Supporters Club football team and their fans gathered enmasse at Allen Hill Stadium in Devonport yesterday.
The new babies and other younger members were crawling about and every United shirt was out on the field for the team, such was the attendance.
Manchester United NZ completely dominated the early stages of the game, with all the strikers having shots, but none finding the net, then as always, we relaxed and let the Shore old boys play the ball and within ten minutes they had TWO in the onion bag. They had no speed but still retain some skill, (all ex league players like Takapuna and ECB), so the idea was not to let them play, doh.
Anyhow, in to the second and now we are just running all over them, especially young Simon and Jan, but we still couldn't peg one, till Simon got a ball on the edge of the area and let fly for Uniteds first. The big push continued and Steve Taylor and Mike have shots hit the bar, but the second goal eludes us and late in the game North Shore grab another. We definitely needed a run after all the cancellations, but we still had a strong team and should never have lost that game.

Thanks to all that attended, Steve Taylor, Steve Mellor, Steve Millham (Cardiff), Steve Edwards, Mike, Mike the keeper, Fish (Mark), Mark F, Marc, Big Richie, Jan, Gunga, Phil, Simon, James, Ken, Rowan, Wesley, Rob, Carrie, Katrina, Anamaya, Kobe, Lisa, Kate, Jayden and his sister, and any others I missed.
