remember the 8 ?
Not even close, the heroics of that team were not mirrored when only SEVEN turned out for Sundays game against the Old Farts. The disappointing turnout was capped when they only gave us old Albert and Grumpys young son, Bradley.
From the start they ran us ragged, as poor positioning and lack of numbers meant we had no chance against a fairly young Farts team. Bradley was one of the shining lights, technically capable as any son of Grumpys would be, he chased and covered everything as his youth allowed (12-14 ?). We managed to hold the Farts to 2-0 at the break, but after we scored a cracking goal, set up by Stevie Mellor and Bradley on the right, with Bradley delivering a perfect cross to a waiting Rowan who tucked it away, funny thing was, Brad actually said “Easy Goal” as soon as he passed it !!!
The Farts then switched on the go button and we retired to the showers well beaten on the field but with our soul intact. A well earned drink and a return to winning raffle ways cheered the lads up and as our wise old man from Warrington says “Its only a game”.
