Mud in the graveyard
The Red Machine played Onehunga at Waikaraka Park this afternoon on a pitch which was just appalling.
Tavis opened the scoring for the Reds, cruising thru the Onehunga defence and easily beating the keeper. The pitch didn't aid good football and only the human dynamo Jan was making any decent runs and it was Jan who set up the second with a great ball thru to Mike who finished superbly.
Early in the second half we got a free-kick, which Tavis neatly put away and then he grabbed his hat-trick with a spectacular goal from about 35 yards out, near the end of the game.
It was a dour struggle in the mud, but management would like to thank all the lads who turned up, Man of match Jan, Tavis, old Mike, Ganja, David, Joe, Wesley, Mike T, James, KJ, Steve Mellor.
And the support from Lisa and KJs lad (can't wait till he gets a little older !), thanks all.
So a hat-trick for young Tavis and the competition for Goalscorer of the Year is really hotting up.
GO YOU REDS
